Conflux Coldwell presents a Halloween Hauntology special, free to those who have bought Zoetrope on cassette from Crooked Acres Records.

Phenakistoscope collects together all of the music from the Zoetrope.space project missing from the Crooked Acres release, including the full Zoetrope live show performed at Fuse Art Space in August 2019. Far from just another collectors' edition of rarities, b-sides and live versions, however, this digital release is actually closer to the original Zoetrope concept. While the other flows better as an album, this collection is free to play with the mesmerizing durational effects of tape loops in a way the original cassette release couldn't.

All of the music on Phenakistoscope was originally released online as part of the audiovisual work Zoetrope.space, except for track one, which was recorded more recently.

Broken Polyphon was created using tape loops of recordings made at Leeds Discovery Centre as part of the Music and Materiality workshop held there on 9th September 2019. All of the sounds used are from a 19th century glass harp and a broken polyphon held in the museum archives there. Thanks to Dr Scott Mclaughlin, Dr Tom Jackson and Kitty Ross from Leeds Museums.

Ufology is archaic prose by way of sound. It is not unlike a collection of unfiltered Brothers Grim stories, which in this case, revolve around UFO mythoses. Each passage unfolds much like folk tales told around the summer camp fire in some dense alpine forest, wearing your sense of speculation down the further you listen, until you finally start to look around your dark surroundings and up to the sky for what may or may not be there. fran3000
