The field recordings that underpin much of this music were originally made as supporting materials for Michael C Coldwell’s ongoing multimodal project on the ‘disappearing city’, a work which seeks to document urban regeneration and degeneration, abandoned buildings and their demolition, in his home town of Leeds. The sound of unrelenting change is evoked in these time-stretched audio landscapes and distant echoes, our faltering memories of what came before, of places now lost.

The tracks collected here were all written to soundtrack various experimental shorts and video installations created over several years by the artist, concerning the changing cityscape. The original video pieces can be found here:
